Éva Bognár and Judit Szakács Present Paper at FAKENEWS Project Launch Conference at UiT

February 28, 2022

Our Senior Program Officer Éva Bognár and researcher Judit Szakács presented their paper on disinformation and minorities at the Arctic University of Norway (UiT) at a conference that launched a project entitled FAKENEWS.

The project, researching the impact of disinformation on social trust and resilience, is run by the university’s Grey Zone research group. It examines the Norwegian and Swedish reactions to the COVID-19 pandemic and to the 2015 migration crisis, and how trust and resilience (the ability to withstand or adapt to changes due to crisis) were impacted during these two crises.

At the project launch conference in Tromso, Norway, Éva Bognár and Judit Szakács presented their paper on the impact of disinformation on migrants and minority groups in the EU, written for the European Parliament’s INGE committee. They also explored some of the related issues such as the media ecosystem, the importance of the social context and some problems with disinformation research.
