Walker Contributes to New Book on Central Asia in the Era of Sovereignty

February 28, 2018

CMDS fellow Vivian Walker's essay "The Borderlands Paradox: Framing Central Asia's Current Economic and Social Challenges," is the first chapter in a new book on Central Asia in the Era of Sovereignty edited by Daniel L. Burghart and Theresa Sabonis-Helf. The book focuses on Central Asian states, which though increasingly differ from each other, are making their way in global politics. No longer connected only to Russia, they are now connected in important ways to Afghanistan, South Asia, China, Iran, and each other. This volume covers a wide range of issues focusing on political development in the region and the states’ responses to transboundary challenges.
